How to update Galaxy Tab 2 P3100 to ZSBHL3 Based 4.0.4 Firmware

Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 P3100 is one of the recent Android tablets from the Korean manufacture which has a 7-inch screen, 3G, Wi-Fi connectivity and various other interesting features. Recently the 4.0.4 ZSBHL3 based firmware was released for Samsung Galaxy Tab on August 7 at Taiwan for KIES. Some of the important details about this firmware are,

  3. Download the latest official drivers for Samsung Galaxy Tab from below link, http://www.samsung.com/us/kies/
  4. Next you should take back up of all important data in your phone before you upgrade to the latest firmware. You should take a backup of documents, contacts, music, video etc. Using any Android backup software.
  5. You should also enable USB debugging in your device by going to Settings -> Applications -> Developments and choosing USB debugging. This will help you to install the firmware and troubleshoot if any issues pop up during the middle of the process.
  6. You must also disable the firewalls and security suits like Antivirus, Malware protection in both your tablet and Desktop to prevent any interruptions in the middle of the installation process.
  7. You should have your phone charged completely as installation might take at least 30 minutes to 1 hour and your phone must not get switched off in the middle of it.
  8. Now install the latest drivers for Samsung Galaxy tab which you downloaded from their official website to your Desktop.

Installation Steps:

Follow the steps mentioned below in order to upgrade your phone to Android 4.0.4 ICS firmware with the help of Odin tools.

  1. First unzip the firmware package downloaded from the website P3100ZSBLH3_P3100BRIBLH3_BRI.zip to any folder in your desktop and search for a file with extension .tar inside it.
  2. Now install the odin3 tool by extracting the zip file oidn3 v1.85 zip which you downloaded from their website.
  3. In the odin tool, ensure that “Re-partition” check box is not checked as well as F.Reset time and “Auto Reboot” check boxes are selected. The Odin tool must be running on your Desktop and your Galaxy Tab 2 should be connected to it.
  4. Now reboot your Galaxy Tab 2 with download mode by pressing the “Power”, “Volume down” buttons together and holding them for some time. There will be two modes display on screen which is recovery and download. Now use Volume up button to indicate the download mode and use the power button to boot the device.
  5. You should notice that ID:COM box within Odin tool must be in Yellow color and a message box stating that a new device is detected by the tool.
  6. Now go to the tool and browse the folder in which you have installed the firmware. Choose the proper file types in corresponding tabs,
    1. Choose the files containing “csc” within their name for CSC
    2. Choose the files containing “modem” in their name of Phone tab
    3. Chose the files containing .pit under their name to PIT
    4. Choose the files containing “code” under their name to PDA tab
    5. The Re-partition box must be selected if you have chosen file with .pit for the PIT tab. Once everything is setup properly you can start the flashing process.
    6. The flashing process might take 15-20 minutes after which your tablet will reboot automatically and in the Odin tool a “PASS” message will appear.

If your tablet gets stuck in middle of flashing process, you can pull out the battery and restart the whole installation process again. Once the installation is complete, just disconnect the tablet from your PC and go to the settings to check the firmware version. You should notice that it is successfully upgraded to 4.0.4 ZSBHl3 based firmware. You should follow the above steps exactly in order to successfully install the firmware.
