How to Increase Internal Memory of Sony Xperia Neo

Just imagine the days when you had to carry the floppies and discs with you so that you may access them from anywhere. Then came the laptops and now one step forward we have our android smartphones. We can enjoy internet, store our files and documents and carry them in our pocket wherever we want!

The Sony Xperia Neo is true to its genre of smartphones and a sleek gadget, but it has a limited internal memory of just 320MB. However, it comes with an excellent Scorpion 1GHz processor, RAM of 512 MB in affordable prices and hence it is something that can be definitely sought after. Nevertheless this problem of short memory can be solved because it runs on Android OS.

So here is a tutorial that will help you easily increase your internal memory of the Neo model in the Xperia range.

Preparations

1. The very first step will be to charge your battery to at least 75%.

2. Save your contacts, messages, audio and video clippings, SMS, call logs, Access Point names, Bookmarks, mms settings and so on as a backup.

3. You should have rooted your device before trying the steps on your computer.

4. Installing a custom recovery mode is a wise idea, so you must download ClockworkMod Recovery and install it. You will have to unlock your devices boot loader also.

5. Now going to Settings-> Applications-> Development go to USB debugging and then to icons of Allow Mock Locations.

6. Download all the necessary USB drives on your android device.

7. There is a necessity for Android and Java DSK on your computer. Download Android DSK after the Java DSK has been successfully downloaded.

Instructions

1. After switching off your Xperia Neo enter into recovery mode by pressing the “Home Button” and “Down Volume” simultaneously, with pressing the “Power Button” along with it.

2. Now in the Recovery Mode you have to select “Wipe Data/ Factory Reset”. This will erase all the data, and now you will have to choose “Wipe Cache Partition”. This will delete all the caches from your memory.

3. After this, move to “Advanced settings” and choose “Wipe Dalvik Cache”  successfully from your device to remove the “Dalvik Cache” from the device. Now reboot your device.

4. Next step will be to download and install the app called MiniTool Partition Wizard on your computer.

5. Now remove the memory card by disconnecting it from the Android and inserting it within the card reader of your computer. Avoid using USB cable here.

6. Run the app and then right click on “Option” and then Delete all the data from the SD card.

7. Now again in the “Option” choose “Create New.”

8. Choosing the file as “FAT32” allocate the amount of space that you need.

9. Now follow the same method and Create As: Primary and then later change to Ext2, 3 or Ext4 file. Remember you also need space to store the downloaded apps!

10. Finally click on “Apply” and finish the process by inserting the removed SD card into the Sony Xperia Neo.

11.  Download and install an app called Link2SD and click on “Ext2”. Then for restarting phone device check “OK” option.

12. Now restart your phone, go to Settings->Auto link->Auto link Notification. Now choose the option “Install location.”

13. Finally go to the “External” and then to “Power Off” the phone.

Now choose “Reboot System” and your Sony Xperia Neo will be rebooted to normal mode, and you will notice increased memory in it.
