Google Nexus 4 is one of the best Android devices coming straight from Google to the tech markets. In this post we will have a look at the procedure to install the latest JOP40G EvoXBionic Rom to your Nexus 4.

Pre –Requisites:

  • This procedure is only intended to work only on Nexus 4. This tutorial should not be referred or any other device except the Nexus 4.
  • Before beginning with this procedure, make sure that your device has been rooted and ClockWorkMOD recovery has already been installed on your device.
  • Install the latest USB drivers for your device on your computer. If they have not already been installed, you may download them from the link provided below: http://developer.android.com/sdk/win-usb.html
  • Enable the USB debugging mode on your device. In order to do so, go to Settings -> Applications -> Development and then tick the USB Debugging option.
  • Back up all the important files and applications on your device such as contacts, texts, MMS, calendars, mails and other data, especially on your phone memory.
  • Charge your device to at least 75 % so that the device may withstand the entire firmware flashing process.

The Update Procedure:upgrade Nexus 4 to Android 4.2.1 JOP40G EvoXBionic Jelly Bean

  • First of all, you need to download the Android 4.2.1 JOP40G EvoXBionic Jelly Bean firmware for your device from the link that has been provided below and then save it to a convenient location on your PC. Do not unzip the package:

  • Also download the Google Apps from the Google store and extract them on any convenient location.
  • After you have downloaded the above mentioned files, connect your device to your computer utilizing your device’s USB cable.
  • Next, copy both these downloaded files to your phone’s SD card at a location that you can access easily.
  • Then, unplug your phone from your computer and then switch it off.
  • Now, you are supposed to boot your phone into the Bootloader mode. In order to do so, press the Volume Up + Volume Down + Power Buttons until you see the Bootloader screen on your phone while you turn it on.
  • Follow the navigational instructions that you see and select the BOOTLOADER option and then the RECOVERY option.

  • Next, select the ‘Flash ZIP from SD card’ option and then select the ‘Choose ZIP from SD Card’ option and then browse and navigate to the EvoXBionic ROM. ZIP file that you had copied earlier to your device’s SD Card form your computer.
  •  Select this file and then confirm the install action by pressing the power button.
  • Once you do that, the installation process will be started and the firmware will start flashing on your device.
  • While the firmware is being installed, do not interfere or cancel this process. Also do not try to use your phone until the process is completed.
  • Once, the device completes the installation, you are supposed to install the Google Applications from the package that you had downloaded and copied from your computer to your device’s SD card earlier.
  • The Google Apps will be installed in the same way as the firmware, you just need to select the respective GApps package file when required.
  • Once, you have also installed the Google Applications, go back to the main recovery menu.
  • Select the ‘Reboot System Now’ option in order to reboot your device into the normal mode again.
  • The device will be booted into the new EvoXBionic ROM now. The first boot might take a long time, so please be patient.

You can now enjoy the new and fresh feel of the EvoXBionic Android 4.2.1 ROM on your Nexus 4.
