No KitKat update for 3 Sony Xperia Phones

Sony has confirmed that 3 of its Xperia phones will not make the upgrade to Android 4.4 KitKat operating system.

The Xperia T, Xperia TX and Xperia V phones will not be getting the latest android software, and owners will have to settle with Android 4.1 Jelly Bean.

Some owners may feel hard done by because they aren’t receiving the latest operating system but these 3 devices were launched with Android 4.0 Ice cream Sandwich so have received a far amount of attention since their launch in September 2012.

You do have to give Sony some credit for their open and honest approach to software versions and updates. They keep their website up to date with each phone getting its own page detailing all the previous and current software versions, but also their plans for the future.

Earlier this year Sony took the decision to update both the Xperia Z1 and Z1 compact to KitKat, but both of these devices were flagship phones for Sony at one point and are both newer than the 3 they have shunned. So this announcement shouldn’t come as too much of a shock.
