Pre-Requisite

  1. You must take a back-up of all your personnel items and other impotent data, such as Call Logs, SMS, Contacts, Audios, Images, Videos, APN (Access Point Names) settings, Bookmarks, MMS settings, of your ZTE Merit.
  2. For successful completion of this process charge your Android device with up to a minimum of 25% – 30% battery.
  3. It is desirable that you must take out the SIM as well as external memory card from your ZTE Merit.

Steps for performing the hard reset on ZTE Merit

Method 1

If your ZTE Merit is properly responding to its display screen then attempt this method. This method is much preferred.

Step 1

Firstly go the Home screen of your ZTE Merit, and there select the ‘Menu’ icon.

Step 2

In the ‘Menu’ option, select the ‘Settings’ icon.

Step 3

Next, in the ‘Settings’ option, select the ‘Privacy’ icon.

Step 4

Now, under the above selected option, touch the ‘Factory Data Reset’ icon.

Step 5

There select the ‘Reset Phone’ option.

Step 6

Finally, touch and select the ‘Erase Everything’ option to wipe off all of the data and all the information from your phone memory.

Step 7

After the completion of this process, ZTE Merit will reboot to finish the above procedure.

Method 2

If your ZTE Merit get some fatal error or it just freezes, then perform the following the method.

Step 1

Firstly, shut down or power down your ZTE Merit.

Step 2

When it gets completely OFF, first take out the battery and then again put it in the phone.

Step 3

Now, press the Up Volume & Home buttons simultaneously, and while pressing these buttons press down your Power button at the same time. Press and hold down these buttons for around 4-6 seconds.

Step 4

Release these buttons only when your ZTE Merit gets an Android icon on its screen.

Step 5

Since you are now in the Recovery Mode, select the “Wipe Data/Factory Reset” option using Down Volume button and then press down the Back button to wipe off all of the data and all the information from your phone memory.

Step 6

Next, by using the Back Volume button select the ‘Yes – Delete all user data’ option on the screen to execute the above selected option’s function.

Step 7

After the completion of this formatting process, again press down the Back button to reboot the phone.

Step 8

Finally after this, you’ll have your ZTE Merit hard reset and restored back to the factory settings.
